The social rental agency of MATH SA AOTA had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from the corresponding deputy mayor’s office of the Municipality of Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. The purpose of the visit was to learn more about the social rental model and how it has been designed and implemented in Thessaloniki. During the visit, views were exchanged on the present and future of social housing in Greece and Lithuania, the policies implemented at local and national level in the two countries, and the next steps planned.
This was followed by an inspection of apartments being renovated under the auspices of the “Social housing for the most vulnerable groups” with the aim of comprehensively recording the condition of the apartments and the difficulties that need to be addressed during the implementation phase of the physical object.
The study visit included a comparative analysis of ways to optimize energy efficiency, mobilize the stock of vacant dwellings, and the best ways in which social housing services can better serve potential beneficiaries, including through infrastructure, methodologies, and systems for holistic support of beneficiaries and procedures to facilitate access to social housing.
